Why I Cut My Hair, and Why You Should Consider It

Cutting my hair has been something I’ve been contemplating for weeks. It seemed all of a sudden so many girls had shorter hair and they looked so. . .good. Their faces were better framed and their whole look was refreshed, and I wanted that look so badly. I hesitated for so long because my aunt is a hairdresser and I usually go to her to take care of my hair, but every time someone else cuts my hair, I just seem displeased and unhappy.  On the night of Friday,  October 30, after listening to a lot of 80s music, I decided to just do it. Now, as I write this on the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, I can easily say it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a very long time.

There was something so freeing about putting the scissors through my hair. As the inches fell off, I felt lighter. My hair had grown so long since my last cut. It was weighing me down and I didn’t even know it. Sophomore year came in so unexpectedly for me, and with that, many other troubles. Cutting my hair kind of symbolizes me growing into a stronger person. My hair shall no longer weigh me down, and neither will my troubles.

Maybe you’re going through a rough time right now. Everybody does. Maybe cutting a couple inches off your hair will help you, maybe not. It is an act of self discovery, and for me a positive experience.
