Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy, the first book in a series of six,  is written by Richelle Mead. I picked this up just to pass the time at that moment and I immediately got sucked into this intriguing world filled with vampires, protective hot guys, and a kick-butt protagonist.

Vampires are usually something I stay away from when picking books to read, but I heard so many good things about this series I decided to stick with it. The way vampires work in this world is very interesting and definitely strays from your oh-so-typical-Twilight, clique theme. But, as I was flipping through the pages, I did notice that the romance and the royal vampire cliques were somewhat cheesy and badly put together, but I decided to keep on reading because I have heard that with each book in the series, it gets better.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fun, adventurous read, with a kick-butt, FEMALE, protagonist, this book is perfect for you.

Summary (

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
