Marvel's Daredevil

Marvel's Daredevil

Intense, heart rendering, and awesome are just a few adjectives to describe this outrageously awesome show. I’ve always loved super heroes and am obviously a big fan of Marvel, so when I heard that this was coming to Netflix, I was at first hesitant, but I am so glad that I jumped into this series because it is truly one of my favorites and it has wowed me like no other show.

In the pilot, we open with a tragic scene that immediately hooks you into the show. Matthew Murdock, a little boy, has just been blinded. We then go back to the present, where we see a masked vigilante going around Hell’s Kitchen, New York, beating up all the bad guys. Who is this guy? You wonder.  It can’t be our main character?! Who is blind!!

Episode after episode I fell more in love with Matt Murdock a.k.a. Devil of Hell’s Kitchen a.k.a. Daredevil, and he has definitely moved into my list of favorite superheros, up there with Captain America.  Just look at him saving this little boy:

Two other major factors that really astounded me was 1) How our main character, a masked vigilante who prowls the dark streets at night, is a pious Catholic (1 point for Jesus).  and 2) How the writers of this show put so much humanity into our villain. At one point in the show, I even asked myself, who is the real villain here?

In this show, the darkest sins and temptations of humanity are all dragged out of their dark shadows and put on display, in the brightest spotlight, for everybody to see. Murder, selfishness, money, power, drugs, just to name a few, can all be found in Daredevil, where we can see more shadow than sunlight.

Please do yourself a huge favor and watch this show. Even if you’re not all that interested in Marvel or superheros, then watch it for Charlie Cox’s beautiful, muscular body (heart eyes emoji).
