Oscar Moments 2015

Oscar Moments 2015

1. John Travolta

On the red carpet  photographers snapped hundreds of photos of John Travolta creepily sneaking behind Scarlett Johansson, while she is posing for the cameras, he kisses her on the cheek and puts his hand on her stomach.

2. Glom Gazingo and Adele Dazeem

Last year at the Oscars, when John Travolta introduced Idina Menzel, he mispronounced her name horribly, Adele Dazeem. Not the easiest thing to forget, Idina Menzel came on stage to present the award for best original song, she welcomed John Travolta to the stage but called him Glom Gazingo. John Travolta then comes out and hugs Idina to his side, “I deserved that.” he says to her, then grabs hold of Idina’s chin and stares straight into her eyes, “But you, you my darling, my beautiful, my wickedly talented Idina Menzel.” It was really cringe-worthy, to say the least.

3. Chris Pine brought to tears

During Common and John Legend’s performance of Glory, Chris Pine was shown crying. Glory is a song that is on the Selma soundtrack. Besides being nominated for an Oscar, it won awards at the Golden Globes, the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

4. Patricia Arquette demands Wage Equality

Patricia Arquette, winner of Best Supporting Actress for her single-mother role in Boyhood, gave an empowering speech that had everyone, especially women, in the Dolby Theater smiling and cheering her on. In the speech, Patricia Arquette stated that it is time for wage equality for all women in America. The strong words brought Meryl Streep to her feet, whooping and cheering Patricia on.

5. Eddie Redmayne’s ecstatic speech

Eddie Redmayne, who played Stephen Hawking in the nominated movie The Theory of Everything, won the Oscar for Best Actor. When Eddie’s name was called, he was shocked and excited. He made a beautiful and heartwarming speech dedicated to the people who are battling ALS. And as if he wasn’t cute enough, Eddie started cuddling the Oscar excitedly.

6. Joan Rivers left out of Memoriam segment

Joan Rivers, who died on September 4, 2014, was greatly missed at the Oscars and Fashion Police. Anger grew when Rivers was not included in the In Memoriam segment. Even though Joan Rivers was not known for her acting career, she was still important to the media around The Academy and on E!.
